Getting Started With Wholesale Drop Shipping

Getting Started With Wholesale Drop Shipping

Many business owners avoid starting online businesses (especially ecommerce sites) as they believe that there is a lot of work to do. So they would rather avoid the hassle and not start a web business at all.

When you take a closer look at ecommerce sites, you realize that the it takes quite a bit of effort to run the site. If you are to do everything yourself, you will need staff to handle customer support, and you will need a place where you can store inventory. Then on a daily basis, you have to process sales orders and make sure that all products are shipped out in a timely manner. That will take up quite a bit of time. No wonder business owners hesitate to start their own online stores!

But there is a way out. You can always work with drop shippers so that the bulk of the work is done by someone else. Here is how drop shipping works.

1) Sign up for a drop ship account.

2) Place orders with the drop shipper.

3) Products get shipped on your behalf.

1) Sign up for a drop ship account.

The first thing you need to do is to sign up for a drop shipping account. With the account, you can log in and view the prices that are offered to you. These are usually very low prices, especially when you are buying wholesale. You may then markup the prices, and earn a handsome margin.

2) Place orders with the drop shipper.

When someone visits your shopping site and places an order, you will process the order and then go to your drop shipping account and order the same items. All that is transparent to the customer. The customer thinks that you are shipping the product, when in fact, you are just placing an order with the drop shipping company.

3) Products get shipped on your behalf.

Once orders are placed, the products will be delivered on your behalf. Note that different drop shipping companies have different delivery policies. Be familiar with these policies so that you can assure customers that their purchases will arrive in a timely manner. The drop shipping company always remain in the background. There will be no logos and texts that will give the game away. From the perspective of the customer, this company doesn’t exist.

As the owner of the shopping site, you own the customer. You can always source for additional products from other drop shippers and offer them for sale on your website. That way, you never have to keep stock of inventory, thus eliminating the risk of over-stocking. You also do not have to handle much of the logistics yourself. All the packing and shipping are done of your behalf.

Do you make less money when you work with drop shippers? In the short term, yes, you do make a little lesser. That is because you are paying the company to do all the leg work for you. But in the long run you make more money because you are now free to focus on growing your business instead of being caught up in running it all the time.
